My grandmother is 90 years old and has been pretty ill lately, so I decided to create a few pieces to serve as “get well soon” cards to cheer her up. But what to draw!?
The subject, after a few brief thoughts, soon became obvious. When I was a little girl, she and my grandfather kept several pet deer on their property. So, my formative years were spent at my grandmother and grandfather’s house feeding slices of apple or carrots to a stag named (of all things) Bambi or a doe named Ginger.
Thus, the stag.
The blue balloon? It means “get well soon.”
I’ve been doing a lot of work with traditional watercolors lately. Who knew a pack of $2 Crayola paints could provide this much joy?
Expecto Patronum! Zap! Stag!
